Philip Roth (March 19, 1933)
Do you think that no one should give a bad impression of Jews, ever, even in fiction? Then you must really think Roth is an antihero for his famous/infamous portrayal of Portnoy. I'm not sure, but I think Philip Roth is outliving his era of influence and being admired. When he was young he wrote a book called The Great American Novel. That didn't work. Now he seems to be writing only about the disabilities of old age, and I don't want to read it. Some time I'll get around to rereading Portnoy.
