Giorgio Bassani (March 4, 1916)

When I think of the tragedy of the Italian Jews (in the context of the entire Holocaust tragedy), one of the most vivid portrayals of the event for me is Bassani’s novel The Garden of the Finzi-Continis. The film based on it also contributes to my inner understanding of the fate of the Italian Jewish community.
